SUMMARY

The Annual Giving Manager is an essential member of the Individual Giving team, implementing all aspects of donor systems in support of the annual fundraising operation. This position manages renewals and solicitations for annual donors of $1,000 and above, works to expand the donor base with acquisition campaigns, plans stewardship events, manages the creation of collateral and oversees benefit fulfillment and donor recognition. The ideal candidate for this position is a highly organized, analytical and customer service-oriented professional with development experience in a non-profit environment. This position reports to the Director of Individual Giving.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Systems administration: with oversight from the Director of Individual Giving, oversee systems for a holistic cultivation and solicitation program for annual donors of $1,000 and above; implement renewal processes for annual gifts including mail and electronic communications
  • Project management: serve as support staff for planning, coordination and logistics for key donor stewardship events
  • Communications: manage monthly donor e-newsletters and Institutional Advancement (IA) communications planning
  • Provide critical support for Individual Giving efforts, including scheduling meetings, creating agendas, taking meeting notes, and disseminating action items
  • Attend regular staff meetings to discuss fundraising strategies and make recommendations  on stewardship strategies and priorities
  • Manage a portfolio of Innovator Circle Donors, carry-out  acquisition campaigns to increase number of annual donors and work closely with Membership staff to identify members who are ready and able to move into the individual giving pipeline
  • Work with colleagues in Online Social Engagement, Online Media, and Exhibits & Media Studio to support fundraising efforts through website, print collateral, electronic communications, and social engagement
  • Work closely with the Senior Manager of Development Services to ensure proper tracking of donor and prospect data; maintain accurate and complete records of donor contacts and communications and monitor monthly reporting
  • Support Planned Giving efforts 
  • Serve as department lead on individual donor recognition and benefits fulfillment
  • Additional duties as assigned

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 2-3 years' experience fundraising in a nonprofit, educational or museum environment
  • Working knowledge of fundraising principles, techniques and ethics
  • Experience with event coordination and execution
  • Demonstrated proficiency supporting board members and other high-level volunteers
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage event budgets and annual expense budgets
  • Knowledge of Bay Area philanthropic community preferred 
  • Knowledge of science preferred; knowledge of arts and education helpful
  • Ability to work in a team environment to liaise effectively with staff in departments throughout the museum
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and manage multiple projects
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Possession of excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel; Google Suite)

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency with complex annual fundraising systems, such as Salesforce

This is a regular, full-time (37.5 hours per week), exempt, union position that includes benefits. The starting range for this role is $40.68 to $43.09.
