Staff Accountant II

SUMMARY

This position requires a dynamic individual with prior experience in general ledger accounting, with a focus on multiple funding (revenue) streams.  Other responsibilities include revenue recognition, contribution receivable and account reconciliations.  This position reports to the Assistant Controller.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work closely with the Development Department to record contributions, deposits and donor pledges.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of contribution revenue and receivable accounts.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and generate monthly revenue release and recognition entries for grants, sponsorships and other restricted funding sources. Prepare other journal entries as needed.
  • Assist with Federal and Non-Federal grant compliance, sub-recipient monitoring, annual indirect rate calculation, and other reporting requirements.
  • Assist with cash flow analysis and reporting.
  • Support month-end and year-end close process. 
  • Assist in annual audit process including the preparation of audit schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including participation in cross training to ensure adequate coverage in all areas.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree (Accounting or Finance preferred) and 4 years of relevant general accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of OMB Uniform Grant Guidance a plus.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with excellent follow-up/tracking skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups and cross-functionality.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Excellent computer skills, including fluency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications; Serenic Navigator accounting software experience a plus.
  • Able to spend up to 90 % of time working at computer. Able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds short distances; use general office equipment.
