The Project Leader is responsible for overall direction of exhibit development, fabrication and consulting projects. Functions include leading project teams, coordinating project activities, developing and realizing project goals, guiding project priorities, optimizing the collective effectiveness of the project activity maximizing the project’s overall contribution to the Exploratorium and cultivating new opportunities. The Project Leader works closely with the Global Studios team and Exploratorium management, project team members and various Exploratorium departments, outside consultants, contractors, and advisors and the client. The position reports to the Global Studios Associate Director.
Achieve quality, timeline and financial objectives.
Cultivate strong relationships with the client, team and internal/external partners.
Excellent strategic and intuitive communication – across team, multiple departments, external partners and with client – to achieve project objectives.
Develop and maintain schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
Work closely with Global Studios leadership to develop systems and processes that support project management activities and staff.
Participate in the ongoing strategy, planning and execution of Global Studios projects, and collaborate in the development of new project ideas.
Additional duties as assigned
BA/BS degree and 3-5 years’ experience as a team leader, project manager/director or a similar position
Demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizational structures and processes
Extremely tactful and diplomatic with cross-cultural fluency
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients as well as colleagues and subcontractors
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and problem-solve
Excellent time-management and budgeting skills
Familiarity with project management practices, processes and systems.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
